Winter Classes

WINTER 2024 STUDIO CLASS 7 Friday Classes

Welcome to this introductory landscape painting class, where we will not only delve into diverse painting techniques but also integrate mindfulness training. I firmly believe that to excel as a painter, it is imperative to cultivate heightened listening and observation skills. Throughout this course, we will deconstruct the essential components of painting, enabling us to refine these skills collectively. Expect an environment of enjoyment, mutual support, learning, and laughter. This class is a haven for authenticity, where you can be yourself, ask questions, and embrace the discomfort of stepping outside your comfort zone—an essential element for personal growth.

My aim is not to impose a singular approach to painting but to share the skills acquired through studying various artists and painting techniques. Together, we will evolve and build your unique skill set. No prior painting experience is necessary; what I do ask is that you come with an open mind, a learner's mindset, and a willingness to support yourself without fixating on the outcome.

Throughout the semester, you will acquire skills applicable to the upcoming summer. Additionally, I plan to organize plein air sessions during the summer, allowing us to apply and refine our skills outdoors. Whether painting is a passion, a prospective career, or a profound teacher of being present in the moment, it has personally impacted my life, offering solace from fear, anxiety, and depression. I invite you to join this transformative journey, embracing the art of painting as not just a skill but a catalyst for a different state of being.
